“She knew strange, fierce pleasures that no other woman could ever feel!”

Irena Dubrovna (Simone Simon), a Serbian fashion illustrator living in Manhattan, wants to be an ordinary wife to Oliver Reed (Kent Smith). She is sure an old curse will change her into a predator the moment he touches her. Jacques Tourneur keeps the cat unseen, and Irena stays in her apartment, a dark shape pacing behind the closed door.
