Nobody in the neighborhood can say why men keep turning up in 1990s New York looking for a thing a bartender never agreed to hold. Hank Thompson (Austin Butler) is a former baseball prospect who agreed only to feed his neighbor's cat, and now Russ (Matt Smith) and Lipa (Liev Schreiber) are among the people leaning on him. Darren Aronofsky puts Hank in the middle of it, and Hank starts running.
