Jane Marryot (Diana Wynyard) wants to keep her London household whole, and on New Year's Eve 1899 it is. Her husband Robert (Clive Brook) is going off to the Boer War, and their servants, Ellen (Una O'Connor) and Alfred (Herbert Mundin), stay on with them. Frank Lloyd follows the family through the Titanic and the Great War, and Jane keeps asking the years to leave her people alone.
