Jaiprakash Paswan (Kamal Haasan) is a divorced father who misses his little girl and cannot get enough hours with her. So he turns himself into Laxmi Godbhole, an elderly woman, and talks his way into a job as the child's caretaker in the house of his ex-wife Janki (Tabu). Kamal Haasan, who also directed, builds the comedy around a family held together by love, even when it's tangled and pulled in different directions.
