Chariots of Fire
“This is the story of two men who run, not to run, but to prove something to the world. They will sacrifice anything to achieve their goals... except their honor.”
Harold Abrahams (Ben Cross) trains for the 1924 Paris Olympics with a Cambridge student's pride and a Jewish outsider's grudge, determined to outrun the prejudice around him. Hugh Hudson sets him against Eric Liddell (Ian Charleson), a Scottish missionary's son who runs for the glory of God and will not race on the Sabbath. Abrahams risks the woman who loves him for his single-minded ambition, and Liddell's faith puts his Olympic place in doubt.
