Charlie Chan at the Opera

(1936)Directed by H. Bruce Humberstone68 minCrime, Mystery, Thriller
“A fiendish killer lurks at the opera! Weird! Thrilling! The Master Minds of Crime Match Wits Against Each Other!”

Charlie Chan (Warner Oland) wants to find a man who has lost his memory and slipped out of an asylum, before anyone decides he is a killer. The trail leads to an opera house, where Gravelle (Boris Karloff) is suspected of settling a score with those who tried to murder him thirteen years ago. H. Bruce Humberstone stages it for 20th Century-Fox in 1936, with faux operatic music by Oscar Levant playing behind the hunt.
