Allen Colby, heir to a huge fortune, is presumed drowned when an ocean liner sinks off Honolulu, then turns up at his own mansion and is murdered soon after. His body is found during a seance, which makes everyone seated around the table a suspect. Charlie Chan (Warner Oland), in Gordon Wiles's film, has to name the killer before he or she strikes again.
