Frank Gilbreth (Clifton Webb) moves his family from Providence, Rhode Island, to Montclair, New Jersey, and runs the household of twelve children like one of his efficiency studies. Walter Lang follows the Gilbreths through the chaos that comes with that many kids under one roof. Beside him is Lillian (Myrna Loy), who loves his schemes and has to keep him from running every part of their children's lives.
