“Putting The System To The Test”

In the fall of 1994, Dr. Gerard Plecki (Jeff Daniels) coaches the academic decathlon team at Steinmetz High, a run-down Chicago school, and he sets out to cheat his way to the national title. His team includes Jolie Fitch (Jena Malone) and Matt Kur (Blake Heron), kids who have never been told they could win anything. John Stockwell tells it as a true story, and Plecki keeps pushing because he wants these students to have a win.
