Chevalier

“A buddy movie without the buddies.”

Six men sail home from a fishing trip in the Aegean, and on the yacht a game starts with no stated rules and a single prize, the chevalier ring. Everything about them gets scored, from Dimitris (Makis Papadimitriou) and Josef (Vangelis Mourikis) down to the other four aboard. Athina Rachel Tsangari films the boat's cabins and decks with a flat, dry stillness and lets the men's pettiness play out in front of her camera.
