“DRAMATIC STORY OF A JAZZ CRAZED WIFE”
In 1920s Chicago, Roxie Hart (Phyllis Haver) is a housewife with a taste for drink and a lover on the side. When he leaves her, she shoots him dead, then tries to talk her husband Amos (Victor Varconi) into taking the blame. Frank Urson, working for producer Cecil B. DeMille, tells it in silent comedy, letting Haver's face carry the nerve.
