Chicago

(2002)Directed by Rob Marshall113 min · PG-13Comedy, Crime, Drama
“If you can't be famous, be infamous.”

Roxie Hart (Renée Zellweger), a housewife in 1920s Chicago, has always wanted her name on a marquee, and now a murder charge has put her in the papers. She lands in the same jail as the vaudeville star Velma Kelly (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and the two start fighting over the attention that might keep them off the gallows. Rob Marshall, who also choreographed, plays the whole thing as a story about how fame can matter more than the crime.
