Nasser-Ali Khan (Mathieu Amalric) was one of the most renowned musicians of his day, and he wants his violin back. It has been broken, and no other instrument is worth playing, so he takes to his bed to wait for death. Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, adapting her own graphic novel, set against him a household that has to go on living: his wife Irâne (Golshifteh Farahani), his children, and every day he stays under the blanket.
