Chie the Brat

Chie Takemoto (Chinatsu Nakayama) is a girl in a working-class corner of Osaka who does more grown-up work than anyone in her family. She helps her father Tetsu (Norio Nishikawa) keep his small tavern going, and he makes it hard. Isao Takahata follows her through the neighborhood while she quietly visits the mother who left, hoping to bring her parents back together once her father holds a job.
