Child 44
“How do you find a killer who doesn’t exist?”
Children are turning up dead in the Soviet Union, and the state insists there is no murder here, because murder is a Western disease. Leo Demidov (Tom Hardy), a disgraced MGB agent, is sent to look into the killings anyway, and the trail starts running toward the party's own leadership. Daniel Espinosa films the investigation in cramped rooms and gray stairwells, where every procedural detail carries the fear of being watched.
