Children

Robert Tucker (Robin Hooper), twenty-three and nearly without expression, sits in one waiting room after another and remembers the year he was ten or eleven. At the Catholic school the other boys pick on him, and at home Robert (Phillip Mawdsley) has a quiet mother (Valerie Lilley) and an ill, angry father (Nick Stringer). Terence Davies keeps the memories close to the boy, who has no friend to tell when his father dies.
