Chop Shop

A twelve-year-old with no parents sleeps and works inside a junkyard in Willets Point, Queens, where auto-body shops crowd between scrapyards and garbage dumps. Ale (Alejandro Polanco) hustles for every dollar so that he and his sixteen-year-old sister Isamar (Isamar Gonzales) can have a better life than the shop. Ramin Bahrani films the lot's grease, dented hoods and chain-link, with Ale moving through it like he has nowhere else to be.
