Christmas Story

Hundreds of years ago in Lapland, young Nikolas loses his family in an accident, and the villagers agree to raise him together, passing him to a new home each Christmas. He thanks each family by making toys for their children, until presents turn up on nearly every doorstep. Juha Wuolijoki follows him to the carpenter Iisakki (Kari Väänänen), a grumpy old man who forbids the gifts, and a small pile of wooden toys sits waiting on a doorstep.
