Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach
Anna Magdalena Bach (Christiane Lang) is the second wife of Johann Sebastian Bach (Gustav Leonhardt), and she is the one who tells his life, in her own voice. Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet had waited about ten years to finance it, and they cast the harpsichordist Leonhardt as Bach, with Concentus Musicus playing the music under Nikolaus Harnoncourt. The marriage is seen through the household and the work, two people who share a life and a music.
