City of Men

“An unforgettable tale of friendship and survival in a city where the greatest challenge is growing up.”

Acerola (Douglas Silva) and Laranjinha (Darlan Cunha) have been best friends since they were kids, and both are a few months from turning 18 in a Rio favela. Paulo Morelli follows them as each starts asking about the father who was never around, while a war between rival drug gangs closes in on their neighborhood. What the boys learn about those fathers puts a strain on a friendship that had never needed explaining.
