Clara's Heart

“Clara's wisdom. Clara's warmth. Clara's secret.”

Clara Mayfield (Whoopi Goldberg), a chambermaid at a Jamaican resort, takes a job as housekeeper for a family in the wake of their infant daughter's death. Their son David (Neil Patrick Harris), a teenager, watches his parents Bill (Michael Ontkean) and Leona (Kathleen Quinlan) come apart, and Clara becomes the person he talks to. Robert Mulligan keeps the camera in the house, close to the people and unhurried.
