Clearcut

“The violence has begun.”

Why does a quiet Indigenous elder like Wilf Redwing (Floyd 'Red Crow' Westerman) send a stranger to find Arthur (Graham Greene), a man who plans to kidnap the head of a logging company? The stranger is Peter Maguire (Ron Lea), a white lawyer who wanted a legal fight over land the loggers are clearing. Ryszard Bugajski sets the film on a native reserve, and a forest cut down becomes a debt that someone has to pay.
