Cleopatra

(1963)Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz251 min · GDrama, History, Romance
“The motion picture the world has been waiting for!”

In the years when Rome was reaching across the Mediterranean, the young queen Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor) is fighting to keep Egypt's throne. She wins the protection of Julius Caesar (Rex Harrison) first, then, after his murder, turns to his general Marcus Antonius (Richard Burton). Joseph L. Mankiewicz stages it all at an enormous scale, with palaces, fleets and processions that fill the frame.
