Close to Eden

A Russian truck driver has gone into a lake in Inner Mongolia, and the man who pulls him out is a farmer on his way to town for birth control. Gombo (Bayaertu) takes Sergey (Vladimir Gostyukhin) home to his wife Pagma (Badema) and their three children, who are already the limit the law allows. Nikita Mikhalkov lets a stranger sit at the family's table, and the farmer must decide what a guest costs a household that has no room left to give.
