“Five confessions about coping with the new abnormal...”

Miriam Nessler (Bette Midler), a retired New York schoolteacher, wants someone to listen to her about politics and the pandemic, and the film lets her say it to the camera. Jay Roach directs five characters in New York and Los Angeles, including Sharynn Tarrows (Kaitlyn Dever), a nurse, and Mark Hesterman (Dan Levy), an actor. Each speaks alone, yet the five are tied together, and it is the distance between them that hurts.
