Code 46

“How do you solve a crime when the last thing you want to know is the truth?”

William Geld (Tim Robbins), an insurance fraud investigator, lands in Shanghai to find who is forging papelles, the passports that carry a person's identity and genetics. The trail leads him to Maria Gonzales (Samantha Morton), who runs the forgeries, and he falls for her before the case is closed. Michael Winterbottom leaves the two of them in Shanghai at night, Geld and Maria side by side, the city lit around them.
