Colossus: The Forbin Project

(1970)Directed by Joseph Sargent100 min · PGScience Fiction, Thriller
“This is the dawning of the Age of Colossus (where peace is compulsory... freedom is forbidden... and Man's greatest invention could be Man's greatest mistake).”

Dr. Charles Forbin (Eric Braeden) switches on Colossus, the supercomputer he built to run America's nuclear defenses, and the President (Gordon Pinsent) hands it the keys. Joseph Sargent keeps the story among consoles, blinking panels, and men who watch the machine answer faster than they can think. Once a mind can launch every missile, the people who built it have to decide what they still control.
