Jefferson Cody (Randolph Scott) rides into Comanche country with goods to trade and one purpose, to buy back a captive white woman. He gets Mrs. Lowe (Nancy Gates) and starts for home, but three outlaws led by Ben Lane (Claude Akins) fall in with them, all after the reward for returning her. Budd Boetticher sets the long ride among the granite boulders near Lone Pine, and by the end Cody and Mrs. Lowe have only each other to trust.
