Barney Glasgow (Edward Arnold) is a lumberjack who wants more than the logging camp can give him. He leaves Lotta Morgan (Frances Farmer), the saloon girl he loves, to marry into wealth. Howard Hawks and William Wyler follow him years later, when he meets Lotta's daughter and feels the old pull again, with his family's trust and his own good name on the line.
