(1985)Directed by Elem Klimov142 minDrama, War, Horror, History
“The cruelest side of war.”

In occupied Belarus, a boy named Flyora (Aleksei Kravchenko) digs a rifle out of the sand and leaves his mother and his village to join the partisans in the forest. Elem Klimov follows him through the first days of war, as he meets Glasha (Olga Mironova) and walks her back toward home. Flyora stands in the doorway of his own village, and his face has stopped answering to anyone.
