Come Back, Little Sheba

(1953)Directed by Daniel Mann96 minDrama

Lola Delaney (Shirley Booth) wants someone in her house to talk to, and her husband Doc (Burt Lancaster), a recovering alcoholic, has little left to say. She keeps calling for Sheba, the little dog that vanished months ago, while the college student Marie (Terry Moore) rents their spare room. Daniel Mann, directing his first film, keeps nearly everything inside the Delaneys' house, where the quiet carries more weight than the arguments.
