Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean

“A cup of coffee and a side of dreams.”

Mona (Sandy Dennis) has kept faith with James Dean for twenty years, long enough that the faith has become most of who she is. On the anniversary of his death, the women of her fan club gather again at a Woolworth's five-and-dime in a small Texas town, among them Sissy (Cher) and Joanne (Karen Black). Altman fills the store with their talk and flashbacks to 1955, and the old friendships between these women start to show their wear.
