Come See the Paradise
“In 1942 over 100,000 Americans were interned in prison camps. In America.”
Jack McGurn (Dennis Quaid) is a union man on the run who lands in Los Angeles and takes work as a projectionist at a theater owned by a Japanese-American family. He falls for the owner's daughter, Lily (Tamlyn Tomita), and when her father forbids it, they elope to Seattle. Alan Parker sets their marriage against the years before and after Pearl Harbor, when being American on paper stops protecting a family from the government.
