“A Quiet hideaway... A Secret rendezvous... then the teen-agers barged in!”

Robert Talbot (Rock Hudson), an American millionaire, flies to his Italian villa a few weeks early, hoping to find Lisa (Gina Lollobrigida) waiting where she always has. She has stopped waiting and plans to marry someone else, while his business associate Maurice has quietly turned the villa into a hotel full of young American girls. Robert Mulligan sets it all in sunlit Italy, and the whole film hangs on whether Robert and Lisa can still reach each other.
