Comedy of Power

Magistrate Jeanne Charmant-Killman (Isabelle Huppert) opens an investigation into Michel Humeau (François Berléand), the head of a company accused of massive corporate fraud. Claude Chabrol, working loosely from the real Elf Aquitaine case, follows each interrogation and each document upward toward the government. Huppert sits small and upright at her desk with the files stacked beside her, the French title, "drunk with power," already written there.
