Ella Connors (Jane Fonda) is a single woman who wants to hold onto her failing cattle ranch, though her former suitor Jacob Ewing (Jason Robards) keeps leaning on her to sell it. She turns to her neighbor Frank Athearn (James Caan) for help. Alan J.
