Comfort and Joy

“A serious comedy”

Alan "Dickie" Bird (Bill Paterson) is a Glasgow radio host whose girlfriend Maddy (Eleanor David) has just walked out on him. Then he watches an ice cream van get wrecked by rival sellers and finds himself pulled into a feud between two Italian families over who sells ice cream in the city. Bill Forsyth keeps Alan's voice mild and his questions few, while the quiet radio man wanders further into a fight that was never his.
