“A sequel is in the heir.”

In the African kingdom of Zamunda, Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) is about to take the throne from his dying father. Then he learns he has a grown son in Queens, a street-smart young man named Lavelle whom he has never met. Craig Brewer sends Akeem and his friend Semmi (Arsenio Hall) back to New York to find him, Akeem in royal robes among the brownstones he once walked in as a stranger.
