Coming Home

“A man who believed in war! A man who believed in nothing! And a woman who believed in both of them!”

Sally Hyde (Jane Fonda) is a Marine captain's wife in 1968 California, left alone when Bob (Bruce Dern) ships out to Vietnam. She starts volunteering at the veterans' hospital, where she meets Luke Martin (Jon Voight), a former high school classmate now paralyzed from a combat injury. Hal Ashby watches the war from home, and the film says plainly that the men sent to fight it come back changed.
