Comrades

(1987)Directed by Bill Douglas183 minDrama, History

George Loveless (Robin Soans) is a Dorset farm labourer in the 1830s, paid so little that his family can barely eat. With his brother James (William Gaminara) and the Stanfields, he helps start a union to bargain for a fair wage. Bill Douglas tells it through a travelling lanternist's pictures, and the men are risking arrest and transportation to Australia for asking.
