Confessions of a Nazi Spy
“Trapped!”
FBI agent Ed Renard (Edward G. Robinson) is put on the case of the German-American Bund, which is quietly gathering espionage on American soil before the war has begun. Anatole Litvak directed it for Warner Bros., and it was released in May 1939, the first explicitly anti-Nazi film from a major Hollywood studio. Renard has to build his case piece by piece, and the cost of getting it wrong grows with every week.
