(2010)Directed by Hu Mei125 min · PG-13Drama, History

How does a commoner in the Kingdom of Lu in 500 B.C. rise to Minister of Law on wisdom alone? Confucius (Chow Yun-Fat) does, and under him Lu prospers until the warlike state of Qi begins to threaten it. Hu Mei stages the court intrigue in rich color and big gestures, with Zhou Xun playing Nan Zi, while Confucius stays a teacher whom Lu's jealous aristocrats cannot forgive for being right.
