In 1986, Vanessa Springora (Kim Higelin) is thirteen and wants to be seen, which is how she ends up in the orbit of Gabriel Matzneff (Jean-Paul Rouve), a celebrated writer nearly fifty. Vanessa Filho adapts Springora's memoir and moves between that year and 2013, when Vanessa (Élodie Bouchez) sets down what happened. What is at risk is her own account, in a world that admired his talent too much to question him.
