Contempt

(1963)Directed by Jean-Luc Godard103 minDrama, Romance
“More bold! More brazen! And much, much more Bardot!”

Camille Javal (Brigitte Bardot) begins to look at her husband Paul (Michel Piccoli) differently while he is hired to rewrite a film of The Odyssey, and neither can name the reason. The producer, Jeremy Prokosch (Jack Palance), has brought in Paul to fix the script of the director he hired, Fritz Lang, who plays himself. Godard frames the couple against bright walls and wide open space, and lets the distance between them show.
