Ernie Souchak (John Belushi) is a hard-nosed Chicago newspaper columnist, rumpled and loud, who goes after corrupt politicians for a living. He ends up in the Rocky Mountains chasing a story about Nell Porter (Blair Brown), a scientist who studies eagles and wants to be left alone with them. Michael Apted, working from a Lawrence Kasdan script, sets the city's noise against the mountain quiet and lets the two of them wander into each other's lives.
