“Sentenced to death... chosen to live... destined to kill again.”

Lee Ray Oliver (Ray Liotta) is on death row when he is offered a way out: take part in an experimental treatment, a chemical meant to change how a person behaves. Tim Hunter sends him to the clinic, where the drug is run by Dr. Michael Copeland (Willem Dafoe), and no one can say what exactly it will do to a man like Lee. What the film cares about is the pull between the two of them, a convict with a second chance and the doctor who holds the key to it.
