“One man is copying the most notorious killers in history one at a time. Together, two women must stop him from killing again. Or they’re next.”

A killer in San Francisco is staging murders that copy the crimes of notorious predecessors, and Detective M.J. Monahan (Holly Hunter) has no pattern to follow until she goes to Helen Hudson (Sigourney Weaver), a psychologist who hasn't left her apartment in over a year. Jon Amiel keeps most of their work inside that one home, the two women sorting through files at a desk. Helen sits at her window, the street below as far as she goes.
