Coup de Torchon
Lucien Cordier (Philippe Noiret), the police chief of a small town in French West Africa, has put up with years of insults from everyone around him, including his wife Huguette (Stéphane Audran). Then he decides he wants a clean slate and sets out to get one by drastic means. Bertrand Tavernier adapts Jim Thompson's novel Pop. 1280, and Lucien keeps smiling his sleepy smile, a man who has stopped waiting to be respected.
