Marvin Libner (Daniel Stern) is the oldest of three brothers, an Air Force sergeant who hasn't had much to say to the other two in years. In the summer of 1963, their father hands all three a job: drive a 1954 Cadillac bought for their mother from Detroit to Miami, and keep it in mint condition. Joe Roth sends Marvin, Buddy (Arye Gross) and Bobby (Patrick Dempsey) down the road together, and whatever they owe each other starts with who has to sit in the back.
