Crazy in Alabama

(1999)Directed by Antonio Banderas112 min · PG-13Comedy, Drama
“Sometimes you have to lose your mind to find your freedom.”

Lucille Vinson (Melanie Griffith) is an abused wife in Alabama who sets out for California with one plan, to become a movie star. Back home, her young nephew Peejoe (Lucas Black) is left to deal with a racially motivated killing and Sheriff John Doggett (Meat Loaf), a lawman who answers to no one. Antonio Banderas, directing for the first time, ties the two stories together through the boy and the aunt who left him behind.
